The Four Loves: Sexual Love Pt. 4 (Sanctified Sexuality Pt.2)
I know that I said that we would move on to talk about Phileo love, but God has me going in a different direction. It would seem that this subject has opened up Pandoras box so to speak. Another believer and I were talking about this; we as the Church in America have a dirty little secret. Well it aint so secret because God, the world and the devil know what we are doing behind close doors. Many of us in the body are being brought low by sexually immorality.
The error is made emboldened by the fact that we do not discuss sex nor sexuality farther than sex outside marriage is sin and name call homosexuals. Yea, I am going there. The world sees us as hypocrites because the numbers dont lie. We have become stage actors. We have some of the highest numbers of sexual promiscuity and immorality of any group. We are no different from anyone else. And that is the indictment! We are called to be set apart.
So here in this blog no one is safe from inspection or from correction. Including myself! We all have fallen short. Whether it be masturbation, porno (in its various forms), in proper jokes with the opposite sex (or same), flirting, and touching improperly; we have all erred! This is not holiness. And without holiness, we will not see God (Hebrews 12:14).
Well enough talklets get to it!
"for this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality. That each of you should know how to posses his own vessel in sanctification with honor, not in passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God.For God has not called us to uncleanness but in holiness".
I Thessalonians 3:4-5,7
The word for sexual immorality is Porneia. It means illicit sexual intercourse, incest, adultery, habitual immorality, whoredom, and contains the idea of both physical and spiritual. Also it speaks of idolatry.
Notice what the will of God is! It is that we KNOW how to posses our bodies; literally our vessels that we have been given. Which are also His Temples. There is a man that is coming that has as one of his names the desolator. He is the Antichrist. You know why he is called the desolator? It is because he will enter into the Temple and defile it but taking a seat in the Holy of Holies later erecting an idol of himself. He will claim to be God. When you and I practice sexual immorality we are defiling Gods temple. We are setting up an idol in His temple and forcing the Holy Spirit to watch our idolatry. Also we are claiming to be god with such an act. You doubt me?
"do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit Of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, god will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which you are". I Corinthians 3:16-17.
"He who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who also gives us His Holy Spirit". I Thessalonians 3:8
The rejection of sexual sanctification is a rejection of God and His Holy Spirit whom indwells us. The Holy Spirit is not an it, but a person and He is God. It grieves Him when we participate in this kind of behavior.
We collectively an individually constitute the Body Of Christ. We are members or literally as the Greek states; joints. You are His Hands on earth, His feet, his arm, his legs and etcWhat we do reflects on our head. We are Ambassadors of a Sovereign ruler. He has mandated that there is a certain way that he is to be represented to the world. As such there are certain things that an ambassador of The King must never do. Now we have provision of forgiveness for our sin but we are not to make provision for sin. We are to hate it.
It is our reasonable service to die to our selfish sexual desires and rather offer up our bodies as living sacrifices everyday. What does this mean? It means that God is the centerpiece of our day and night. No matter what we do, he is at the center. It means that we spend as much time as we can in prayer and in study of His word. Why?
We are to walk after the things of the Spirit. God desires true worshippers in spirit and in truth. We have been birthed through His spirit and the Truth about everything is contained in His word. He created us for this reason.
Leonard Ravenhill said that no man is greater than his prayer life.
