The Four Loves:Sexual Love Pt. 3 (Sanctified Sexuality)
The Four Loves: Sexual Love Pt. 3 (Sanctified Sexuality)
This third installment is rightfully called Sanctified Sexuality.
What is Sanctified Sexuality? Well to be Sanctified simply means to be set apart. And that is what Sanctified Sexuality is, it is a sexual identity that is set apart for holiness to the Lord. It is a pure sexuality that is not governed by the morals and seemingly ever-changing ethics of this world system. God defines it in His word.
When God gave the sign His covenant with Abraham where was it? It was the circumcision in his foreskin. His penis. Why? Why would God make that the sign of His eternal covenant with Abraham? The penis is where the seed (sperm) comes from. By cutting away the foreskin, it speaks of cutting away the fleshly or carnal dependence.
Or more apt, that God is stating simply that your sexuality is important to “Me and I want it unique and different from the world’s. He was saying by this that a believer’s entire use of his/her genitalia must be set apart to Him. Paul echo’s this to the Corinthian’s who while believers were still engaging in activities that were not acceptable to God sexually. Here is a list, fornication (orgies, sexual intercourse outside marriage, sodomy and masturbation) and adultery. Paul goes on to tell them in a later chapter that believers that practice this sinful behavior are not to be deceived because, “they will not inherit the kingdom of God.” He lands the bomb in I Corinthians 6:20 “you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body…”
What God is after is your body as a living sacrifice daily (Romans 12:1). See as Christian’s there are certain modes of sexual behavior that are not allowed. There is neither debate nor bending the line. It is set in stone if you will. Now this does not stop people from trying but it is futile. He means it. Sodomy does not glorify God, nor does having sex with any and everyone that one desires to. Human sexuality is a very precious thing. It involves the soul, no just the body.
In the book of Proverbs we are told, “he who commits adultery destroys his own soul.” This applies to fornication as Paul says that it is like joining Baal (demon god) with Christ (2 Corinthians 6:16). Will God be joined with Satan in a sexual act? NO. Remember that during sex, two people become one. It doesn’t matter why you are sleeping with the person or what your justification is, you are joining yourself to that person. Paul hammer this home in I Corinthians 6:16,
“Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For the “two”, He says shall become one body.”
The more people that you have sex with that is the more that your soul has been joined with others. A grave example of this occurs in Genesis 34. Dinah one of Jacob’s daughters is raped by a Prince named Shechem. It says that after he raped her, “his soul clung to her.” Did you catch that? A Soul tie. When sex occurs there is a reaction in the soul often times. Have you ever had sex with a person that you were/are not in love with and yet felt compelled to keep going back? This is a soul tie. There is not enough space here for a full exploration but I just want you to understand.
Here is another example of soul tying; in Numbers 25 some of the children of Israel commit sexual sin with the women of Moab. The people that participated in this were killed. Even in the Old Testament we see that the only way to deal with sin is to “kill it”. That is put to death the flesh. In verse 2 it tells us that after they did this along with other forms of worship (which included various sexual practices) that they were “joined to Baal Of Peor”. Joined to a demon god. God’s people were joined to a demon god though sexual immorality. Sex is not a game. If misused it can destroy a person’s soul.
Allow me to interject something very important here. When you have sex with a person you are having sex with what they are tied to. We just saw in Numbers that the women of Moab were down with a demon god and as a result Israel was joined to a demon god. Paul as I showed you earlier. Hits this home also. We may think that nothing is happening because there is no disease or pregnancy but there is. Your soul.
How many women have been raped and struggle to deal with it? How many women look for that affection and try to find it in sex? How many children are molested and are destroyed emotionally because of it? How many men were taken advantage of by someone as a kid and now they struggle with their sexuality? Dear brothers and sisters, this is not a game. Our lusts can and will lead to destruction. We will not inherit the kingdom practicing these sins. This is not fruit of the Holy Spirit.
Our bodies are the habitation of God. We are the Church. Not the buildings that we attend for services. No beloved. Our bodies are the Temple Of The Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 6:19). We are the Body Of Messiah. The Spirit of God indwells you making it a temple for Him. We were bought with the Blood Of Jesus, that was the price for our redemption, His life. Your genitals do not belong to you. There are to be used in a way that glorifies God.
Sexual sin is unlike any other. Paul tells that we are to flee from it. Why? Because it is the only sin that violates the body, all other sins don’t do that. Sexual sin does.
I did this as the Spirit Of God led me. It is not my intention to bring ridicule or condemnation to anyone. Rather it is my goal to shine the Light Of God into the darkness so that we may be able to see accurately. We all have issues or struggles in this area and if not in this area then others. We live in a world that teaches us how to lust from childhood. But greater is He that is in you than he that is in the World. It is not to late to stop, or to quit. If you are engaged in any form of sexually impure practices stop. It is not worth it. God deemed you worth the sacrifice of His Son worth the price of getting you. Would you now spit in His face by going back?
Please, I plead with you with all of my might. Fight the good fight. Turn from it. Seek help; call someone that you can trust. If you don’t then know of anyone contact me. I promise to try and find someone to help you if I am unable to. This is important. We all fall but we must get back up.
